Preamble
Death is inevitable in the life of all humans beings. As we all have our dates of birth, so we have our dates of death. Some would live up to ripe/old age while some will die die in their prime. There is no wisdom in fear of death, wisdom lies in preparation for it. The loss of a bread winner is a grievous experience for dependents especially young ones who still need care, education and and support. When death strikes unexpectedly, the extenden family members are usually unwilling to or too poor to take responsibility of children left behind by the deceased. Orpahns at times are left in the care of grand parents or relatives who most time find it difficult to take care of them becasue of lack of will power to do it or because of the extreme poverty ravagingour society. The Nigerian Society is being confronted with a lot of security and socio-economic challenges such that the life expectancy now stands at 55 years, one of the lowest in Africa and the fifth worst in the world. Not only that, state care by way of social interventions programmes for supporting persons who have lost their breadwinners to either insecurity, diseases, accidents and through other means is almost nonexistent in Nigerian Society. Hence, the need to create a network of people who out of altruism are desirous of gving a helping hand to orphans. The volunteers and the donots are equally potential beneficiary as no one knows their date of death. No on is ever so sure that they would be able to live long enough to oversee the care of their dependents till when they are fully independent.
An orphan orphan is conceived by this FOUNDATION as any individual who is below the age of 18 and who has lost his father(breadwinner). An orpahn who is above 18 but still could notmeet his basic daily and educational needs would still fall in the category of persons to be assisted. Orphans are most times in the category of abandoned children. As such, they are deprived of decent life, basic needs of life, as well as social and education opportunities.
We seek to provide supports in alleviating the plight of orphan. However, a particular attention will be given to ensuring that they receive qulaity education so that they would not lose out in life opportunities. The foundation is ot intended to be an orpahnage per se as it would not take custody of the orphans. Rather, support will be provided for them and their guardian to alleviate the burden of losing their breadwinner.
